Not only is AIGA an incredible professional group that has been very meaningful in my own life and career, I feel that as a chapter our voice can add a design-centric, user-focused perspective to many civic conversations happening here locally. Throw in the fact that the Triangle continues to grow as a key creative hub in the Southeast, and it’s clear that this is the place to be and the organization to be involved with.

Lastly, and most importantly, I want to build everlasting friendships within my design community and make a difference in emerging and student designers’ lives.

Jayne Worth
Co-Director of Emerging Designer programming
jayne.worth@raleigh.aiga.org
Being on the board with AIGA, I hope to CREATE, to live and learn and study and succeed and fail and laugh and cry and think of new ideas, good and bad, take risks, slow down, speed up, listen carefully, share my thoughts and try to make our design community as strong as possible, all while helping others learn why it is so great to be involved with design. I hope to make a difference in other designers lives and make others realize how important what we do is to the world.

AIGA Raleigh 2010-2012 Board Vision
The Question:
What can we do to ensure that our design community has the right conditions to grow their ideas?
The Answer:
We can work together to create a place where designing flourishes. We know this comes to pass when, designing is widely utilized broadly as a professional craft, strategic tool and vital cultural force.
It’s our chapter’s shared purpose.
The How
There are 3 conditions that form a place where designing flourishes:
- Design impact is recognized by the public.
- Design ability is attainable.
- People are united within a community.
All chapter activity will be organized around these three goals.
The History
AIGA Raleigh was founded in 1986 as the eighth chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. Now in operations for 24 years, AIGA Raleigh has over 350 professional, associate, and student members from all over the state. From Winston-Salem and Greensboro, to Chapel Hill and Durham, to Raleigh and Cary, to Greenville and Wilmington, AIGA Raleigh is the first place designers, professionals, and students turn to for inspiration, professional development, and excellence in design in North Carolina.
Our members include graphic designers, educators, and design students, as well as professionals in related fields such as marketing, advertising, corporate communications, printing, prepress, photography, illustration, paper manufacturing and distribution, letterpress, and writing.
